Supporting Women in Coffee
Mickey McLeod (co-founder) and Jessie Gullet (coffee quality manager) visited La Labor, Honduras just before the pandemic and spent a lot of time getting to know the women at Amprocal, a women-run coffee co-op.
The women at Amprocal said that working at a women-run coffee co-op gave them the opportunity to learn new skills such as cupping and roasting which they would not have had if they were at a mixed group co-op. It made them feel liberated and free to learn new skills and take control of their economic situation.
