From Organic to Regenerative Organic Coffee: Mickey McLeod on The Natural List
Last week, Salt Spring Coffee co-founder Mickey McLeod joined Nancy Coulter-Parker on The Natural List podcast to share what got him and his wife Robbyn into roasting coffee, why regeneratively grown coffee is important (and how it goes beyond simply being organic), and how Salt Spring Coffee was built on a deep love for coffee and a passion for doing things right: Naturally and ethically.
Nearly 30 years later, these values still fuel everything we do. Through Fair Trade, Organic, and most recently – Regenerative Organic practices, we focus on a more intentional way of growing coffee that gives back to the earth instead of depleting natural ecosystems. ‘For us, the goal has always been to work towards the right purpose – instead of just selling a product.’ Mickey shares in the episode. ‘It’s always been dear to our hearts to make sure we’re doing things the right way.’
