We carefully consider the big picture impacts of all our decisions to make the right choices for the best outcomes in the communities and environments where we operate. Our commitment to social and environmental responsibility starts at home in British Columbia, from being the first coffee roaster in Canada to become carbon neutral, to sourcing GMO-free cups and becoming a member of 1% for the Planet in 2012. It also links to “origin”, or where our coffee is grown in South and Central America. Here we work directly with growers and co-ops through a program we’ve pioneered, Fair to Farmer. It’s a fair trade program that combines IMO Fair for Life certified fair trade practices and direct trade relationships, but takes these to another level. The prices we pay are above the fair trade price, which is especially important in tough trading times.
