Historically, Sumatran coffees have not been sold by region (like Sumatra Lington, Sumatra Takengon or Sumatra Aceh). It's because for many years coffee producers and buyers did not believe that regional differences (known as terroir) resulted in any taste distinctions. However, we know this is far from the truth.
In fact, the quality of a seasonal harvest, the regional climate and the altitude at which a coffee is grown, as well as method of processing can all greatly shape its character.
Here you’ll enjoy the terroir of Sumatra’s Aceh region, coupled with the fact that the KBQB have gone the extra mile for us. The co-op has selected only the highest-density beans from the harvest, sorting and packaging them separately to highlight their great taste.
Freshly roasted and at the peak of its harvest season, our Sumatra High Density, Aceh Gayo is full of intense flavour. Cinnamon, maple syrup and dark chocolate dominate, while the coffee also has a little more acidity and body than a regular Sumatran.
Enjoy your cup,
