Our Coffee Subscription Pick: May 16 - 31

Roaster's Revolution

This pick is without a doubt a dark roast. Roaster's Revolution is know for its smoky earthy flavours, and its full body. It’s a combination of our Classic Single Origin Sumatra and French Roast Nicaragua and it’s the best of the two worlds: the full body of a classic Sumatran and the delicious smoky and “roasty” characteristics of a French Roast.

Grow. Harvest. Process. Dry. Cup. Ship. ROAST.

We've found that many coffee drinkers are a bit obsessed with roast and that Westcosasters often talk about their long love of dark roasts.

At Salt Spring Coffee we'd like for our customers to begin to consider roast level together with a coffee’s origin, varietal and harvest season. Think of roast level as just one element of the overall coffee experience. If you're a “dark roast lover” we challenge you to move beyond roast level. You’ll open yourself up to the complex flavours that are better able to shine through in medium to lighter roasts.

Science and Art.

Roasting is part science and part art. It takes well-trained roasters like our Head Roaster, Mathew Hill and production roaster Nelson Teskey, quality Petroncini roasting machines and a commitment to continuous education. Each and every batch of green beans behaves differently. If you watched our 16-18 minute roasting process you’d notice that our roasters are keenly aware of aromas, colours and sounds, as well as temperature and timing throughout the process.

As always, enjoy your cup.
