Tracking the lifecycle of a Salt Spring Coffee

Did you know our French Roast Nicaragua (400g) is the first lifecycle carbon neutral coffee in Canada?

  • We offset a total of 658g CO2e (or 37%) of our French Roast Nicaragua's 1807g CO2e total carbon footprint in what is referred to as 'cradle-to-gate'

  • Our French Roast Nicaragua (400g) covers off all of the carbon generated back to the coffee farmer (the cradle) as well as the carbon emit during the roasting process and delivery to the grocery shelf (the gate)

  • A surprising 39% of the coffee’s carbon footprint in the lifecycle is generated by the consumer during coffee preparation

  • 24% of the coffee's carbon footprint in the lifecycle is generated by the waste disposal of the coffee and coffee grounds
