Our Viking Roasting Facility is fuelled by green energy

Now that we’ve settled into our new Viking Roasting Facility, it’s time to talk green power.

With the help and support of Bullfrog Power our Viking Roasting Facility is now fully fueled by green electricity and green natural gas – from our 120 kilo roaster, to our Education Centre, to every power outlet that we plug into.

Why is it important to us?

Our intent has always been to grow our business based upon our founding model: to create great coffee that doesn’t compromise the earth. Which is why with the help of Bullfrog Power we voluntary converted to green energy.

The details.

Bullfrog Power producers inject green natural gas into the pipeline to match the amount of natural gas used at our Viking Roasting Facility. The green natural gas injected into the pipeline is produced through the capture and cleansing of methane gas that is produced with the decay of organic matter (aka kitchen scraps) in our every day waste stream. Green natural gas is a net zero carbon dioxide emissions energy source which helps us reduce our emissions footprint.

Bullfrog Power also matches our electricity usage with EcoLogoM certified wind power from the Bear Mountain Wind Park in BC. This means all of our electricity needs are met with emissions free, local renewable energy.

By being bullfrogpowered, we are supporting the development of renewable energy generation in Canada and creating a cleaner world for today and tomorrow.
