Sierra Club chooses Salt Spring Coffee for fundraising campaign
This season, Salt Spring Coffee Company is offering a unique fundraising opportunity in support of Sierra Club BC that’s based on the values around the Global Warming initiatives both organizations support.

SSCC recently named Charles Tremewen their new Director of Marketing. In this newly created position he will oversee Salt Spring Coffee’s marketing activity across all the Company’s business channels. "We sought someone who could oversee our marketing and branding efforts while fostering personal relationships with our customers," said Mickey McLeod, President of Salt Spring Coffee Company. "Charles' qualifications show proven results on these fronts and we're very pleased to have him on our team."
In keeping with our values and a desire to maintain full transparency and an open dialog with our fellow Salt Spring residents for our proposed state of the art “Green Campus,” there is now an on-line public forum called Talk To Us for you to post comments and suggestions. We hope you will join in the dialogue regarding our new green facility, a proposed centre of excellence for our Salt Spring Community. Visit our project FAQ, Development Plan and Environmental Impact Assessment for more details. You can also email us directly at TalkToUs (at) Saltspring.com if you prefer a one to one correspondence.
SSCC is very lucky to have found it's new Coffee Director, Banks Thomas!
Banks, who hails from North Carolina, has been working with very
progressive Counter Culture Coffee. He
brings with him (in addition to his family!) an absolute passion for
coffee, a strong belief in coffee education and an understanding of
coffee from bean to cup. More about Banks.

For Immediate Release: The Green Fee -- The next wave of Carbon Cool
Consumers asked to make ‘cooler’ choices...
Vancouver, BC – May 2008 – Salt Spring Coffee Company, BC’s original fair trade and organic coffee company, continues to lead the way with its sustainability practices. Beginning May 20th Salt Spring Coffee is challenging coffee drinkers to look deeper into how they use disposable cups. The company will implement a 5-cent green fee on throw-away coffee cups with money generated going towards local sustainability initiatives in the community. The goal: get people to bring re-usable mugs, the message: reduce waste and become carbon cool.
For the Love of Africa: Coffee & Chocolate Tasting Fundraiser
The 1st Annual Coffee and Chocolate Tasting Event was held at the Ambrosia Centre in Victoria BC on Sunday, April 6, 2008. Visitors enjoyed a chance to sample African coffees from eight of the finest independent coffee roasters from Southern Vancouver island and Salt Spring island. In addition, attendees enjoyed the sounds of a marimba band and the unique talents of a group of gumboot dancers. A great day was had by all and over $6,000 was raised for the Nkuhungu Clinic Project.
A big thanks to all those who attended EPIC and came by our booth to say hello! We hope you enjoyed the event, and the coffee, and had a chance to take our Carbon Cool Challenge. If you missed out on the Challenge we encourage you to test your global warming IQ for a chance to win prizes! Go>
