For the past three years Salt Spring Coffee has been a key sponsor at the EPIC Sustainability Expo. This year proved to be the perfect opportunity to introduce our new Brand Identity, a first in line of Micro-Lot coffees from our Coffee's of Distinction Program and some pretty cool sustainability initiatives.
For starters, we launched the first of a series of new Micro-Lot coffees beginning with FincaNevado Sarasara, produced by one of our award winning farmers Jesus Viña who is from the Pangoa Co-op in Peru. This coffee's delicious chocolate and walnut flavours, savory body and smooth lingering finish won the hearts of attendees. Sold only at the show and now available exclusively through our cafés, we will be offering new Micro-Lot coffees on a fairly regular basis so keep your eyes open for these beauties. To learn more about new coffees, how you can purchase them and other worthy coffee news, join us on our Twitter and/or Facebook accounts for updates (see addresses below).
Join us at EPIC Sustainability Expo in Vancouver, May 8-10, 2009 as we celebrate our third year as coffee sponsor for one of Vancouvers leading consumer green shows.
Visit us at booth #1719 and learn how we believe in being better! You'll get to taste the latest coffees and chat with Banks Thomas, our Director of Coffee. While your there you may as well grind a pound of coffee using a grinder that runs on a bicycle powered generator. We'll even give you the opportunity be win a year of coffee if you help us vote on which environmental or socially responsible organization you want us to donate our paper cup Green Fees collected over the past year. Lastly, over at the Main Stage, check out what's brewing at our very own Salt Spring Coffee Cafe Lounge located at booth area #2913. Ciao!

Since 2004 we have been actively involved with the organic farmers from the La Co-operativa Agraria Cafetalera (CAC), in Pangoa, Peru.
During last year’s trip, Robbyn and I decided to introduce a unique competition amongst the Pangoa co-op farmers involving a cupping challenge that awarded the farmers of the 5 best-of-entry coffees. Here's the scoop on our exciting and highly eventful trip in July 2008.
CAC Pangoa co-op is a 600 member co-op that is located in San Martin de Pangoa, Peru, some 450 km east of Lima on the East side of the Andes mountain range. Of the total CAC Pangoa co-op membership, 147 are women, some of which are widows to farmers who died in many recent regional wars.
