We are really excited to tell you that there’s a new look coming to your grocery shelf!

This week we’re introducing our brand new coffee bags and over the next few weeks they will begin to appear at your local grocery store.

The look may have changed but our passion for delicious fresh roasted artisan coffee hasn’t – in fact, we’re even more passionate than ever.

Now you can simply and easily identify your favorite coffee with the large colour coded labels and bold distinguishable product names. We went even further by dividing these coffees into two distinct bag colours. Our Single Origin Coffees are now in red bags and our Blended Coffees are in green bags – similar appearance but different bag colors.

Single Origin Coffees come from a single country. region or co-op, unblended and in it's purest form.
Blended Coffees are from different regions of the world blended together to create a uniquely delicious flavour experience.

We’ve also introduced a new blended coffee you’ll want to try – Skookum Blend™.

The introduction of these new 400 gram bags is a significant step in our new direction and an indication our commitment to coffee quality and excellence that you have grown to expect of us.

We think you’ll agree – change is good.  Keep your eyes open for the new look of great coffee - Salt Spring Coffee – always 100% organic, beyond fair trade, shade grown, carbon neutral.

Believe in being better™.

Coffee knowledge is a great thing!
written by Chaz, December 05, 2009
Not sure if George is aware but the new bags have instructions on how to make great coffee at home. Now he can learn how to use the proper portion of coffee to water and make delicious coffee again. Give it a shot!

Challenge yourself to become an expert
written by Thomas, December 07, 2009
I challenge you to become an expert in brewing the perfect cup. These fine folks provide the perfect beans, now all you have to do is figure out your brewing apparatus. May I suggest a French Press for simplicities sake? It makes many wonderful styles of cup, it also can be used to brew tea if you run out of beans. There are many old and new techniques for making a good cup, I prefer the two part Italian stove-top expresso maker myself but I have been known to break out the old-school percolater. Enjoy your coffee brewing adventures!

Coffee bags - can they be recycled?
written by Beng, December 14, 2009
Hi there,

I'm wondering if you take back your 1-lb coffee bags? Is it garbage or can we recycle them?

Let me know. Thanks!

Not bad, nice and easy to choose the blend... Though I still like the previous branding better. It just spoke more "Saltspring" to me.

We Propose Re-purposing of Our Coffee Bags
written by Chaz, December 18, 2009
No, unfortunately we do not take back our coffee bags and they can't be recycle d but, you can re-purpose them - With Spring around the corner, save your old coffee bags for our coffee bag solution:

Coffee bags have a big job to do. To keep your coffee fresh, they have to block sunlight and air from reaching the beans. This requires a layered construction of plastic and metal that sadly renders them non-recyclable. We at Salt Spring Coffee are working with our bag suppliers to source a biodegradable or recyclable
solution, but a product that adequately protects and maintains our coffee’s freshness simply doesn’t exist yet.

However, that doesn’t mean you have to throw the bags out! We have discovered a beautiful and functional way to re-purpose coffee bags. When you have finished all of your delicious coffee, rinse out the bag and fold down the top. Place
about two inches of stones or gravel in the bottom and fill the rest of the bag with soil. Your new lightweight “pot” is now ready for seeds or plant starters!
Plant your favorite wildflowers for a gorgeous and low-maintenance burst of colour on your patio. Or how about a more culinary approach? Our 400-gram
coffee bags are the perfect size for herbs. Plant a variety and line up several bags on your kitchen window sill! From the beans in your coffee pot to herbs on your
dinner plate, you’ve just diverted one more piece of garbage from the landfill and saved yourself lots of money in lovely fresh herbs!

HOPE THAT HELPS!
